Maintain Sanitaire Vacuum - Change Your Vacuum Belt

The vacuum belt should be changed ever few hours of service. Even when the belt has not yet broken the belt can become too loose and stretched out and will not provide optimum performance.

Flip the vacuum onto its back to reveal the under side.

ree

Turn the two switches that hold the bottom plate onto the vacuum.

ree

Now you can see the brush/bar, the belt and the belt driver.

ree

Release the belt from the belt driver.

ree

Pull up on the brush/bar.

ree

Take note that the new belt should line up with this small plastic belt identifier.

ree

The black rubber piece at the end of each brush/bar also must stay installed or be replaced to ensure the bar stays in place.

ree

Notice how the brush/bar is not lined up with where the belt should be in the below photo.

ree

This is the correct configuration.

ree

Insert the belt and get the brush/bar inserted.

ree

Stretch the belt by hand up to the belt driver.

ree

Ensure that the lower side of the belt lines up with the indicator shown below it.

ree

You're ready to put the cover back on, just line up the holes in front with the plastic holds on the front of the vacuum, set it in place then lock it with the swivel locks that you took off originally.

ree

You're all set.

Changing your belt will keep your vacuum running at the best performance including the best suction.
